Dr. Acton is CEO of Vivo Group, a firm that specializes in improving leadership practices in science and technology organizations. Previously Dr. Acton served as a faculty member in Biology at Harvard University and was Director of Scientific Development at MIT's Whitehead Institute where she established institute strategy for building long-term relationships with industry. .
Dr. Acton earned a PhD in biology from MIT working in a Nobel-Prize winning molecular genetics laboratory, and has a BA in Biology from University of Pennsylvania..
Dr. Acton is author of the book The Bluffer’s Guide to Genetics, published by Oval Books, as well as the upcoming Principles of Leadership for Scientists and Engineers due to be published in 2025. She is a popular speaker and professional member of the National Speakers' Association.
Dr. Acton lives in the Boston area where she swims across Walden Pond in the summer, and skis near it in the winter with her dog Darwin.
